This seems like a great quality item, but the description was not specific enough on the height of the seat. Thus, the bar stool is too tall for our bar :( Because of this, my husband can't use it while eating and it was a gift for him. So, he just looks at it...

The box was damaged when received with one of the legs hanging out slightly. The chair was not damaged, however, so I did not have to return it for that reason.

You do need tools to assemble. There are 4 screws that need to go into the seat, but there are no pre-drilled holes for them. We had to drill our own, which was easy enough to do. You also meet a rubber mallet or maybe a hammer with a towel to tap the foot/floor protectors into the legs. The back kind of leans back a bit, NOT a 90 degree angle to the seat. The seat back is also padded.

It reminds me of bar stools you might find in a bar, seems to be heavy duty materials to stand up to lots of use. It has a very thick seat that is cushioned and has a shiny wipe-clean surface. I just Wish it had been a little shorter for our bar. It's for a real tall bar, not kitchen counter height, but a bit taller.
