We bought this rug set to put over the hardwood floor in certain spots of the family room. Of course, as with almost any rug in this price range, it's not very thick/plush, so (if this is going on a hard surface) you'll DEFINITELY want a non-slip pad underneath it not only to stabilize it, but to add a pleasant softness that isn't actually there. But this is all 100% normal for smaller, less expensive, area rugs like this. Quality of the rugs themselves are actually decent--maybe better, I think, than what you'd find in various retail stores in this price range.

The only thing I'm going to warn you about--this rug looks like a red-based circle pattern on a "charcoal", possibly dark-brownish background. Well, that background is decidedly bluish. It's very dark and greyed out, but definitely for "blue" values of "charcoal". We had no blue in the room this went in, and there was fortunately no problem in our view with the blue-tinged background on the color scheme, but, you might not agree.

Pro tip: When you buy the carpet pad, but one for a larger carpet, that way you can cut it into 3 pieces, one for each of the sizes in the 3 rugs in the set (if you bought the set).
