Product Description
Carrots, celery, beets, cucumbers, apples--all vegetables and fruits, with the exception of citrus, go into this powerful 550-watt compact juicer's feed chute and come out the spout as pure, fresh juice. (For citrus fruits, you must purchase a separate attachment.) A stainless-steel blade chops the vegetables and fruits, and centrifugal force, just as high-school physics teachers promise, spins the juice from the pulp and through a strainer before it pours from the spout. Disposable paper filters (included), useful for soft fruits, can be placed inside the strainer to further filter juice. You can employ the pulp to flavor soups, casseroles, breads, cakes, and sauces, or it can go into the compost pile. Twisting off the cover opens the juicer for simple disassembly and cleaning. The stainless-steel bowl can go into the dishwasher, but other parts must be hand washed. The juicer is 11-1/2 inches high and 9-1/4 inches wide. I bought one of these in 1977. And it's still in excellent condition after about a million (more or less) glasses of juice. What more can you ask? Well, perhaps easier cleaning. Pulp gets wedged in the basket and you need a stiff brush to get it loose. Some dishwashers will do the trick, but you may end up scrubbing. Thus four instead of five stars. If you need to make more than two glasses of juice, you'll probably have to stop and empty the basket of pulp before continuing. The Champion juicer spits out the pulp while juicing and might be a better choice for those who have large families. Nevertheless, this Waring juicer (they bought out the old Acme brand) gets every drop of juice from your veggies and fruit. Don't even consider a cheaper juicer, as you'll pay the price in needing more produce to come up with a good glass of juice. Bon Apetit!
